In August, I was given a rare chance to fly down and second shoot for Award Winning Photographer Mark Tioxon of LeahAndMark.com in San Luis Obispo, CA. The adventure started with an early morning plane flight into LAX, and a mini-road trip to SLO. Our road trip was scheduled to take 3 hours, but thanks to the lovely LA Traffic (gotta love that SoCal slow freeway) it ended up taking 5 to 6 hours. We learned my air guitar sucks during that trip.
Arrival at Flying Caballos Ranch literally took my breath away. The gorgeous ranch home is set back behind a warehouse area. You'd never know it was there unless you had the address. The historic house was built in 1905 and sits quietly in the rolling hills of Edna Wine Country. Seriously... If you have the chance to photograph here, or even just visit for a bit, do it. The place is magical when it's not even decorated.
Caroline + Paul were warm and welcoming. These two were incredible hosts and their laid back vibe melded with the beautiful California countryside. The entire event was a fairytale come to life.
Someday I'll make it back to Flying Caballos Ranch. But in the meantime, I'll set my sights on magical venues in the Pacific Northwest. Check out my post on Rattlesnake Ledge for another adventure story.
